How to choose industrial filter paper (filter cloth)

At present, there are many filter papers (filter cloths) on the market, and the filter papers (filter cloths) used for industrial liquid filtration are mainly made of PET and PP materials. However, if different materials or different processing conditions are used, even if the unit weight of the filter paper (filter cloth) is the same, the filtration accuracy exhibited will vary greatly.


So how do users choose filter cloth? Tianlue technicians recommend the following aspects:
1It is necessary to confirm the use conditions including the solid-liquid composition of the filtered object, the filtration pressure difference, the temperature of the filtrate, the filtration amount per unit time, the principle of use of the filtration equipment, and the mechanical strength requirement for the filter cloth;


2To confirm which kind of filter material is used on the filter equipment at the moment, such as: whether there is a uniform rolling point, the thickness, the unit weight, what is the problem during using (whether there is more foam, whether it is easy to tear, whether the flow is insufficient, whether the filtration accuracy is insufficient) etc. If there is no way to describe it, you can provide samples for analysis by Tianlue technicians, or you can invite  Tianlue technicians to the site for investigation.


3Determination of filtration accuracy: Filtering accuracy is a relatively accurate concept. However, the pore size distribution of the filter paper is a relatively random distribution. To determine the accuracy, it is usually measured by the relevant pore size test provided by the filter cloth supplier. Then determine according to their own working conditions.


It is easy to confuse the filtration accuracy with the unit weight of the cloth itself.Under the same process conditions and materials, the unit weight is positively correlated with the filtration accuracy.But it's not an absolute single correlation.That is to say, if the process conditions change, even if the same unit area, the results are different filtering accuracy.Therefore, it often happens that the 90g product of one company will be replaced by 100g product of another company, and the result will also find that the filtering accuracy cannot reach the original 90g effect.


4Another indicator is flux. Normally, the filter cloth supplier does not directly provide the flux measured according to the filtration liquid of specific customers, and usually takes permeability as a reference.However, air permeability is a parameter with a very large range of variation. Even under strict experimental conditions, if the same sample is tested in the same test equipment for several times, the activity of the two samples will vary greatly.More likely, for some special liquids, due to the material itself and not close, and often appear breathable impermeable liquid situation.And, of course, permeability is somewhat correlated with flux.Similar to the relationship between unit weight and accuracy, fluxes can be predicted by air permeability under certain conditions.Therefore, users can accumulate the relevant relationship based on their own usage experience.In short, air permeability is a reference parameter


5Selection of strength: the mechanical strength of the filter cloth is good for trial, and the strength is large, resulting in the deterioration of parameters such as cost and uniformity, not necessarily suitable.As a result, users can measure their own requirements for strength under operating conditions.Generally, the tensile mechanical strength index of filter cloth is in unit of N/5CM, so the total tensile strength of a certain direction under the use width can be calculated linearly.Tianlue technicians recommend that the total tensile strength exceeds 15-20% of the maximum mechanical force in use in this direction.


6Breaking elongation: this is a material manufacturer's material production performance index, has no direct significance to the user.Because this parameter reflects the total elongation of the material when it is exercised, while the user does not use it under the condition of fracture.Tianlue technical staff, it is not recommended to consider this parameter as the basis of material selection.


7Compatibility of filtered liquid is a relatively important parameter.In general, if the filtered liquid is water-based, we recommend using a hydrophilic material;If the filtered liquid is oily, tianlilian technicians recommend the use of some lipophilic materials.In metallurgical hot rolled or machined cooling fluid, for example, day slightly TB33 series is very suitable for, because it has a certain hydrophilicity and can quickly be emulsion infiltration, has led to fast emulsion foam attached filter cloth surface and burst, and make quick in filtering liquid, intercept because of saponification bubble carrying waste residues, have the effect of cleaning.
